WVWC volleyball drops a pair of outings to PSAC schools

EDINBORO, Pa. — The West Virginia Wesleyan (1-8) volleyball team fell in matches against East Stroudsburg (5-7) and Edinboro (9-2) on Saturday (Sept. 10).
 
WVWC Leaders 
Freshman Mya Bajramovic led the attack at the net with 13 kills on the day. Hope Arce-Reed added 11 kills. Peyton Hefner tossed 20 assists for the Lady Bobcats. Defensively Arce-Reed led the team with seven blocks. Barjramovic and Joelle Lalla each contributed with six blocks on the day. Autumn Molenhouse and Alexis Moeschler each had 18 digs for the Lady Bobcats defense.  
 
East Stroudsburg 3, WVWC 0
Set one remained close throughout. The largest lead of the set was four points and there were 13 tie scores. With the score tied at 20-20, after winning five of the next six points East Stroudsburg won set one, 25-21.
 
WVWC started set two with an 8-4 lead. The Warriors responded with five straight points to take their first lead of the game 9-8. Wesleyan fought back and knotted the score 11-11. East Stroudsburg claimed 14 of the final 19 points to win set two, 25-16.
 
The Warriors started set three with a sense of urgency jumping out to a 10-2 lead. Wesleyan fired off four straight to cut the lead to 14-8. East Stroudsburg fired back with a run of their own leading 20-10. The Warriors would win set three, 25-13.
 
 
 
Edinboro 3, WVWC 0 
In set one Edinboro started strong, leading 10-3. The Fighting  Scots did not concede consecutive points to WVWC the rest of the set winning set one, 25-10.
 
The Fighting Scots took a quick 2-0 lead in set two. WVWC fired back with three points to take the lead 3-2. Edinboro tied the score 3-3 on the next play. Both teams exchanged the ensuing next four decisions.  Edinboro scored three straight to lead 8-5. Wesleyan fought back to cut the deficit to 10-8. Edinboro fired off five points to lead 15-8. The Fighting Scots won set two, 25-13.
 
Set three started close, Edinboro led 5-4 before firing off four points to lead 9-4. After a six-point run, the Fighting Scots extended their lead 17-6. Wesleyan took three straight to cut the deficit to nine. Edinboro won set three, 25-16.

The Lady Bobcats will return to Buckhannon to compete in the Bobcat Classic versus Glenville State at 2 p.m. and WVU Tech at 8 p.m. on Friday (Sept. 16).
