WVWC golf teams to compete in MEC Championships

The West Virginia Wesleyan golf teams are set to compete in the Mountain East Conference Championship from Oct. 3-5 at Avalon Lakes Golf Course in Warren, Ohio. The women’s first round begins Monday (Oct. 3) at 8 a.m., while the men’s team starts at noon.

  • On the men’s side, freshman Francisco Taboada was the highest finisher for WVWC at the UC Invitational, played from Sept. 12-13. Taboada shot a total of 146 strokes in the two-day event.
  • Davis Haynes finished in a tie for fourth place at the Bud Elwell Fall Classic in Erie, Pa. The Bobcats finished in fourth place at the one-round event.
  • Sophomore Alexis Abalos was the top finisher for the Bobcats at WVWC’s last event, the West Liberty Invitational. Abalos finished with a 233 in the three-round event.
  • On the women’s side, Remmey Lohr and Faith Yoho competed at the Falcon Fall Invite. Lohr shot a 193, while Yoho fired a 210 at the two-round event in Ravenna, Ohio.
