WVWC golf teams compete at UC Invitational

CHARLESTON — The West Virginia Wesleyan College men’s and women’s golf teams competed in the UC Invitational hosted by the University of Charleston on September 8–9. Both Bobcat squads teed it up against a deep and competitive NCAA Division II field across two challenging courses: Berry Hills Country Club (men) and Edgewood Country Club (women).

Men’s Team Recap
Team Finish: 19th Place (+101)

The WVWC men’s team finished 19th out of 20 teams, posting a three-round score of +101 (Round 1: 44-over, Round 2: 27-over, Round 3: 30-over). The Bobcats improved from their opening round but could not climb the leaderboard against a field topped by Gannon University (+9), Wilmington (DE) (+14), and Bluefield State (+31).

Bobcat Standouts – Men:
Robin Heidenreich led the Bobcats with a total score of +24 (84-76-80), tying for 84th place
Rahil Krishna followed with a +27 (83-81-79), improving each round and finishing tied for 93rd
Caleb Fairhurst recorded a +36 (83-84-85) over three rounds
Jake Geremia carded a +81 (95-103-89) while Ben Ambler finished at +40 (90-83-93)

Women’s Team Recap
Team Finish: 15th Place (+185)

The Bobcat women’s team placed 15th out of 18 teams with a total team score of +185 (Round 1: 94-over, Round 2: 91-over). Gannon (+27) and Charleston (WV) (+33) led the women’s field with consistently strong team rounds.

Bobcat Standouts – Women:
Sydney Baird once again paced the Wesleyan women, finishing at +22 (83-81) and tying for 48th overall in a field of nearly 100 players
Isabella Briceno and Mary Felts followed with scores of +56 (86-90) and +70 (105-83), respectively
Addison Davis shot +80 (84-96), and Sophia Sherrell rounded out the team with a two-day total of +188 (105-83)
