WVU Medicine St. Joseph’s Hospital is happy to announce that Kelly Povroznik, MS, RD, LD, Director of Food and Nutrition Services and clinical outpatient dietitian, has earned the prestigious credential of Integrative and Functional Nutrition Certified Practitioner (IFNCP).
Povroznik completed her training through the Integrative and Functional Nutrition Academy (IFNA), one of the nation’s most respected online programs in functional nutrition education and mentorship. IFNA was founded by renowned integrative medicine nutritionists Dr. Sheila Dean and Kathie Swift, MS, and is recognized for its evidence-based, whole-systems approach to identifying and addressing the root causes of chronic disease.
Integrative and functional nutrition (IFN) is a science-based, holistic model of care that expands on traditional nutrition therapy. This approach evaluates the complex interplay between genetics, environment, lifestyle, and mental health to create highly personalized care plans. It emphasizes treating the whole person and the root cause of illness rather than just managing symptoms.
“Kelly’s achievement reflects her deep commitment to providing comprehensive, cutting-edge nutritional care to our patients and community,” said Skip Gjolberg, President of St. Joseph’s Hospital. “This certification will further enhance our ability to address chronic health conditions with a personalized, holistic approach.”
Povroznik will continue to serve in her current leadership and clinical roles, now bringing enhanced insight into how nutrition, lifestyle, and environmental factors can impact overall wellness. Her integrative expertise will benefit patients seeking nutrition guidance for chronic illness management, preventive care, and overall health improvement.
