WVU Medicine St. Joseph’s Hospital is pleased to announce the appointment of Valorie Richardson, MHA, RN, CNOR, as the new Manager of Surgical Services.
Richardson brings over three decades of experience in surgical nursing and leadership to the role. A native of Lewisburg, West Virginia, she began her career as a registered nurse in the Main Operating Room and Day Surgery Center at WVU Medicine J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital, where she served for more than 20 years. Her dedication to patient care and clinical excellence led her into leadership roles, including Director of Surgical Services at both Mon Health Medical Center and, most recently, Davis Medical Center.
Richardson earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from West Virginia University and later completed a Master’s Degree in Health Administration from Ohio University. Her broad scope of expertise includes overseeing Pre-op, PACU, Central Sterile, Endoscopy, and OR services, as well as ensuring compliance, safety, and high-quality patient outcomes.
“We are excited to welcome Valorie back to the WVU Medicine family,” said Skip Gjolberg, President of WVU Medicine St. Joseph’s Hospital. “Her depth of experience and passion for patient-centered care make her a tremendous asset to our surgical services team.”
Richardson and her husband of 30 years, Steve, are both WVU alumni who raised their two sons in Morgantown. Now that their sons—also WVU graduates—have launched careers of their own, Valorie enjoys spending time with family, traveling, quilting, and crafting with vintage jewelry.
“I’m so excited to join the phenomenal team at St. Joseph’s and proud to return home to WVU Medicine,” said Richardson. “West Virginia has always been home, and I’m honored to serve our community here in Buckhannon.”
