WVDNR, NWTF announce Wildlife Manager of the Year Award recipient

SOUTH CHARLESTON, WV — A wildlife manager from the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources (WVDNR) sixth district has been named the National Wild Turkey Federation’s West Virginia State Chapter wildlife manager of the year.

The award’s recipient, Tyler Turner, oversees Lynn Camp, Burning Springs and Little Kanawha River wildlife management areas, which were all recently acquired by the WVDNR.

“Tyler Turner is an outstanding wildlife manager with a strong commitment to improving habitat for wild turkey and other wildlife,” said Jerry Westfall, district game biologist for the WVDNR. “The sportsmen and women of West Virginia can be very proud of his dedicated service.”

Turner’s work also has led to improved hunter access at Lynn Camp, Burning Springs and Little Kanawha River WMAs. His work includes the development of parking areas for hunters, road improvements and daylighting, sign installation and the completion of numerous habitat improvement projects.
