Richard Lee Young, II, of Buckhannon, WV, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, January 23, 2026, at his home.
He was born on October 28, 1956, in Buckhannon, a son of the late Richard Lee Young and Mary Louise Rexroad Young Thorpe. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Leslie Diane Young and niece, Edythe Livesay.
He is survived by two sons, Richard Young, III and wife Heather and Colin Young and wife Cecily all of Buckhannon; two granddaughters, Kylie and Keira Young both of Buckhannon; two sisters, Ann Livesay and husband Mike of Buckhannon and Marian Young of New York, NY; one niece, Amy Maditz and husband Derek of Buckhannon; one nephew, Michael Livesay, II of Buckhannon; three great nephews, Finnegan, Noah and Maximus Maditz and his beloved cats.
Richard was a Methodist by faith and attended First United Methodist Church in Buckhannon when able. In his younger years, he played baseball, basketball, and football. Richard loved watching sports and especially enjoyed cheering for the Cleveland Browns.
In honoring Richard’s wishes, he will be cremated. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the funeral home to assist with funeral expenses.
