Win-win: Support Ukrainians, local students’ art March 23 at B-UMS

Artwork submitted by Sherri Butler

BUCKHANNON – Seventh-grade students from Buckhannon-Upshur Middle School are raising funds for Ukraine by selling their latest art project.

Sherri Butler, an art teacher at Buckhannon-Upshur Middle School, and her classes completed the project earlier this month and now have a plan to sell the prints.

“Seventh-grade students in [my] art classes have designed and created prints and paintings in hopes to sell to raise funds for Ukrainian aid,” Butler said. “Our current PBL theme in seventh grade is ‘Survival.’ We are hoping we can make a little bit of difference in the lives of the Ukrainian people, many of whom are truly struggling to survive.”

Butler will be selling the prints Wednesday, March 23 in the B-UMS cafeteria from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. and the minimum price per print is $5. Payment can be brought to the school office or mailed with attention Pam Slaughter.

Checks can be made out to B-UMS with “Ukraine” in the memo space. If a print needs to be mailed, shipping is $2. Prints are also featured on the Facebook group ‘Buckhannon Upshur Middle School Art” where people can check for updates and new prints.
