White has 16 to lead JV Bucs past Grafton, 58-51

TENNERTON – Three Buckhannon-Upshur junior varsity Buccaneers reached double digits in a 58-51 victory over the Grafton Bearcats Saturday evening.

Damion White tallied 16 points while Jacob Frye and Brody McDaniels each had 13 to lead the Buccaneers to the seven-point victory.

B-U led by a 13-12 score after one quarter with Frye scoring seven points and White six.

Buckhannon-Upshur won the second quarter by a 16-14 count with White and McDaniels scoring four points each, Frye three, Xavier Robinette and Colten Warner two each and Riel Figueroa one.

That put the Bucs up by a 29-26 score at the break.

Buckhannon-Upshur saw their lead shrink in the third canto dropping it by a 15-13 margin.

White had six points, Seth Allen four, Robinette two and McDaniels one as they went into the fourth quarter with a 42-41 advantage.

The Bucs won the fourth quarter by a 16-10 count holding on for the win.

In that final quarter, McDaniels had eight points, Robinette four, Frye three and Kadyn Baisden one.

Jonathan Maier led Grafton with 12 points.

The win lifted the Bucs to 4-5 on the season.

They will return to action Wednesday visiting Philip Barbour for a 5:45 p.m.
