CHARLESTON – The West Virginia Department of Arts, Culture and History (WVDACH) is offering a quilt workshop with Jane Hall, a certified masters judge of the National Quilting Association, on Friday, May 3, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Culture Center, State Capitol Complex in Charleston. Class size is limited, and registration is required. There is a $20 fee per person, payable to the WVDACH.

The workshop, “Pineapple Foundation Piecing,” will take four – five hours, and is a foundation-piecing class making a pineapple block/quilt. Quilters will choose which block to make from the provided samples. Fabric kits are not provided, but the necessary foundations will be available for a $2 fee.

Hall, of Raleigh, N.C., has lectured and taught quilt making for guilds and quilt conferences in the United States and abroad for 25 years. She is an author and quilt designer as well as a teacher, judge and appraiser for antique and contemporary quilts. Her award-winning quilts have been exhibited nationally and internationally in quilt shows, juried fiber and multi-media exhibitions and galleries.

Her quilts are included in public and private collections and in the American Quilter’s Society Museum in Paducah, Ky. She has an interest in foundation work and has explored methods for using foundation techniques in all kinds of piecing, traditional and innovative, as well as designs not usually considered for foundation piecing.
