Wesleyan’s Karasawa named MEC Tennis Player of the Year

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – West Virginia Wesleyan men’s tennis standout Kihiro Karasawa has been named the MEC Men’s Tennis Player of the Year, the conference announced this afternoon.

The sophomore from Iizuna, Japan was a key piece in Wesleyan’s (9-7, 3-3 MEC) finish this season, capturing nine singles wins and double-digit doubles wins during the spring. Karasawa was the MEC Freshman of the Year last season.

West Virginia Wesleyan closed its Carolina swing with a sweep of Shaw, as the men rolled 7-0 and the women won 5-2. The Bobcats vaulted into the ITA Top 50, with the men at No. 39 and the women at No. 46—Wesleyan’s first women’s ranking since 2010.
