MEC announces 2026 football schedule

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. — The Mountain East Conference announced its 2026 football schedule on Tuesday afternoon.

The MEC will play an eight-game conference schedule over the final nine dates allowed by the NCAA calendar, with all teams featuring four home games and four away games. Each program will play up to an additional three games against non-conference competition.
 
The MEC will also pursue Thursday night and Saturday night opportunities, announcements regarding those changes will come later.
 
League play for the MEC will start in week three on September 19, 2026.
 
Frostburg State University and the University of Charleston were MEC Co-Champions in 2025. By virtue of a tiebreaker, Frostburg State earned the automatic qualifying berth for NCAA Division II postseason play and reached the NCAA DII Quarterfinals before falling to Kutztown. Frostburg State finished with an 11-3 overall record, and 7-1 in league play.
 
The UC Golden Eagles went 8-3 a season ago and finished 7-1 in league play.
 
Glenville State, which will be under first-year Head Coach Jake Castell, finished tied for second at 6-5 overall and 5-3 in MEC play. Wheeling, which also tied for second went 6-5 overall and 5-3 in league play.
 
Institutions will release complete schedules and game times when available.
