The West Virginia Wesleyan track and field teams were back in action this past weekend at the West Liberty Tim Weaver Invitational. Events were won and school records were broken.
Two throwers broke the school record in the hammer throw at this event. Jacqualin Leanman threw a distance of 43.01 meters placing her eighth in the event, while Jack Ingram threw a distance of 49.27 meters and a finish of fifth place. Royell Salmon also broke the school record in the long jump event with a distance of 7.39 meters winning the event. The men’s 4×100 team of Gavin McKnight, Lucas Anderson, Royell Salmon, and Taiwo Babawale-Thropp broke the school record with a time of 40.87 seconds, which won the event.
The men’s 1500 Dec had two Wesleyan athletes at the top of the leaderboard, Cole Bracken and Peyton Slider. The men, Jonathan Norton, Kent Niland, and Evan Pyles, also had a clean sweep of the top three positions in the 5K event.
Both Dakota Johnson and Lindsey Dillon had a top five finish in the 800m. Samantha Cash won the women’s 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:06.34.
The track team is back in action April 4th weekend at the Dave Labor Invitational.
