Wesleyan men’s soccer picked fifth in MEC preseason poll

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. — The University of Charleston was voted as the Mountain East Conference preseason favorite in men’s soccer following a vote of the league’s eight head coaches.

UC received 49 total points and seven-first place votes. Charleston is coming off a 19-2 and 13-1 season and won its sixth-consecutive MEC Tournament Championship in 2023 while earning an NCAA Tournament bid.

Davis & Elkins earned one-first place vote and totaled 42 points as they claimed the No. 2 spot in the preseason poll.

Concord (36), West Liberty (26) and West Virginia Wesleyan (24) rounded out the top five in the poll.

Point Park (20), Wheeling (14) and Frostburg State (13) rounded out the rest of the preseason poll.

The men’s soccer season begins on Sept. 5th with five programs. In non-conference action. League will play begin on Sunday, Sept. 8th.
