Volleyball Lady ‘Cats drop 3-0 road decision to Charleston

BUCKHANNON — The West Virginia Wesleyan volleyball team traveled to Charleston for their second conference matchup of the 2023 season. After coming off a loss to Notre Dame College in their previous conference matchup, the Lady Bobcats would fell to the Golden Eagles in three straight sets, falling to 4-8 on the season and 0-2 in the conference.

In the first set, the Lady Bobcats got off to a very slow start, ultimately leading to them losing this set 25-14. The Lady Bobcats were out killed by the Golden Eagles 15 to 8 and ended the first set with seven errors. Sets two and three were very similar to set one, where the Lady Bobcats were out killed 26 to 16 in the final two sets of the match. Losing set two 25-13 and set three 25-15.

The Golden Eagles were led by Sage Bearnson, Riley Hoff, and Emma Shepherd who combined for 26 kills on the game. Despite the losing effort, the Lady Bobcats were led by Hope Arce-Reed, who finished the game with seven kills. Arce-Reed’s performance was matched by Olivia Albrecht who finished with six kills and Alauna Wilson who finished with 14 assists.

The Lady Bobcats will continue their 2023 season on September 29 against Glenville State at home in the Rockefeller Center at 7 p.m.
