Vandalia Health recognized in U.S. News & World Report 2026 Best Hospitals edition for heart care excellence

MORGANTOWN — Vandalia Health Mon Medical Center in Morgantown, Vandalia Health Mon Preston Memorial Hospital in Kingwood and Vandalia Health Mon Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital in Weston — along with Charleston Area Medical Center (CAMC) in Charleston, are featured in the 2026 U.S. News & World Report Best Hospitals edition for participation in national heart care quality programs through the American College of Cardiology (ACC).

The publication highlights hospitals across the country that take part in national programs designed to improve heart care, track patient outcomes and ensure hospitals meet the highest standards of safety and effectiveness.

Participation in these programs means hospitals are voluntarily measuring how well they treat heart attacks, perform cardiac procedures, implant pacemakers and defibrillators, and provide advanced heart valve and stroke-prevention treatments. The goal is simple: better outcomes and safer care for patients.

The American College of Cardiology administers these national registries and accreditation programs to help hospitals measure performance, follow evidence-based guidelines and continuously improve patient care.

“Heart disease remains one of the most significant health challenges facing West Virginians,” said Bradford Warden, MD, Executive Director and Chief of Cardiology, Vandalia Health Mon Heart & Vascular Center. “By participating in the ACC’s national quality programs, we are holding ourselves to the highest standards and ensuring patients across our region have access to advanced, coordinated cardiovascular care without leaving their community.”

“Cardiovascular care is rarely a single procedure — it’s a coordinated journey,” said Elie Gharib, MD. “Our emergency physicians, cardiologists, electrophysiologists, imaging specialists, structural heart team, cardiovascular surgical team and nursing staff work together seamlessly from prevention to diagnosis to intervention to recovery. These programs validate our entire care team that is aligned around best practices that are guideline driven with the latest technologies available at every stage.”
