Buckhannon-Upshur shook off a second-set loss to beat Elkins 3-1 in Big 10 Conference volleyball action. Avery Hamer had 11 kills and Cora Cottrill added nine blocks as the Lady Bucs won their seventh straight match and improved to 11-7.

Week 4 WVSSAC Class AAAA football playoff ratings; B-U 14th this week

Buckhannon-Upshur ranks 14th in the Week 4 WVSSAC Class AAAA football playoff ratings with a 1-3 record, placing it among the 16 teams currently in playoff position. The team is off this week before hosting Fairmont Senior on Oct. 2.

Oct. 3 deadline nears for SBA physical damage loans in Upshur County

West Virginia businesses, nonprofits, homeowners and renters affected by the July 21–22 storms have until Oct. 3 to apply for low-interest SBA physical damage loans. Eligible applicants can borrow for repairs, replacement and storm-mitigation upgrades.
