Upshur County pool to host large swim meet on Friday and Saturday, will be closed for public use

Dozens of tents filled the hillside above the Upshur County Recreation Park as more than 400 athletes competed at the NCWV Swim Championships in 2022.

BUCKHANNON — The Upshur County Recreational Pool will be closed for public use Friday and Saturday, July 14-15, as it hosts the NCWV Swim Championship.

Fourteen teams from around the area will compete in this two-day meet, including Upshur County’s very own Splashers Club. Admission is free for those who are interested in coming to see what the meet is all about.

Warm-ups start both days at 7:30 am with races shortly after. Ages from 6-18+ will compete. Come out and support these young ladies and gentlemen!

The Upshur County Recreational Pool in Buckhannon is a popular destination for families and individuals looking to cool off during the summer months. The pool offers a variety of amenities, including a water slide, diving board and lap lanes. The pool is also home to the Splashers Club, a local swim team that competes in various meets throughout the year.
