Upshur County man sentenced for firearms charge

ELKINS, W.Va. – Floyd Edward Roby, of Buckhannon, West Virginia, was sentenced Tuesday to 37 months incarceration for a firearms charge, U.S. Attorney Bill Powell announced.

Roby, 41, pled guilty to one count of “Unlawful Possession of a Firearm” in May 2019. Roby, having previously been convicted of a felony, admitted to having a 9mm pistol in January 2019 in Upshur County.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN).

Assistant U.S. Attorney Brandon S. Flower prosecuted the case on behalf of the government. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives and the Upshur County Sheriff’s Office investigated.

U.S. District Judge Thomas S. Kleeh presided.
