Upshur County businesses urged to apply for Façade Grant Program

Upshur County businesses and commercial property owners have a unique opportunity to enhance their storefronts through the Façade Grant Program. This initiative, spearheaded by the Upshur County Development Authority, aims to revitalize local commercial areas by providing financial assistance for exterior improvements.

The program offers a 50% reimbursement for eligible façade renovations, with grants of up to $2,500 available on a first-come, first-served basis. This means that for a $5,000 project, businesses could receive the maximum grant amount, effectively cutting their out-of-pocket expenses in half.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for our local businesses to make impactful improvements to their buildings,” said Brandon Tenney, UCDA Executive Director. “We encourage all eligible property owners and businesses to apply.”

Eligible improvements include a wide range of exterior enhancements, from repairing brickwork and siding to installing new signage and lighting. The program is designed to be flexible, accommodating the various needs of different businesses within Upshur County.

Applications are being accepted on a rolling basis, with no set deadline. The Façade Grant Committee, comprising representatives from the UCDA, Buckhannon-Upshur Chamber of Commerce and the City of Buckhannon, will review applications and respond within 45 days.

Interested parties should note that projects must be completed within six months of approval, and only pre-approved improvements are eligible for reimbursement. This ensures that the program’s funds are used effectively to meet its objectives of improving building appearances and enhancing the overall aesthetic of commercial areas in Upshur County.
