Picture this: pristine baseball diamonds and soccer pitches, alongside an innovative all-season sledding hill that guarantees year-round thrills. But that’s just the beginning. Now imagine a tapestry of outdoor adventures – from a refreshing splash pad and cozy group campfire zone to heart-pumping mountain bike trails and relaxing safari tent glamping.

On Thursday, the Upshur County Commission unveiled a detailed concept rendering of the John C. Allen Regional Hub, a sprawling recreational complex the county hopes to build along Corridor H, west of Buckhannon. The hub – which could cost up to an estimated $50 million to construct – would feature everything from full-size athletic fields to condo-style lodging. The indoor portion of the facility would house a large turf field, several basketball courts and a walking track.

For now, the project remains in the concept stage, with funding still to be secured. Stay tuned to My Buckhannon for an in-depth look at this potential game-changing development.
