West Virginia voters cast 162,349 early in-person ballots, up 24% from the 2022 midterm general election, according to a release from West Virginia Secretary of State Kris Warner.
Election Day polls open November 3 from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
“West Virginia voters have the opportunity to continue or increase this trend on Tuesday, November 3rd, by voting between 6:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. Voters in line by 7:30 p.m. will be guaranteed the opportunity to vote,” Warner said in the release.
Upshur County recorded 2,325 early votes, according to the office’s county-by-county figures.
Upshur County had 4,843 early voters in the 2024 general election, according to My Buckhannon’s October 30 coverage.
Upshur County Clerk Carol Smith said Precinct 18 voters will vote in a different room at the Vo-Tech School, with signs directing them. Voters who usually vote at Rock Cave Elementary School will still vote there.
Smith reminded voters to bring a photo ID and not to wear campaign hats or shirts. Voters can call the Upshur County Clerk’s Office at 304-472-1068 to check their precinct location.
The release reports unofficial turnout increases of 19% among Democratic voters, 28% among Republicans and 31% among unaffiliated voters. Warner attributed the rise to easier voter registration.
Voters can use GoVoteWV.com to locate their polling place and preview their sample ballot.
Warner urged anyone who sees or suspects an election law violation to call the secretary of state’s Investigations Division toll-free at 877-FRAUD-WV.
