BUCKHANNON – In bringing you the best sports coverage in Upshur County, the sports department here at My Buckhannon is proud to announce another feature to make it even better: Starting today, we are going to announce, on weekly basis, the Hank Ellis All-Stars.
We will select a female and male athlete at Buckhannon-Upshur each Monday this winter that has had an exemplary week on the mat, in the pool or on the basketball court.

Our first Hank Ellis All-Stars are Harrison Walker and Alyssa Abel.
Walker is a senior guard on the basketball team. In a 1-1 week for the Bucs, including an upset of No. 8 Wheeling Park, Walker averaged a team-high 17 points.
He scored 14 points and dished out five assists in the upset win over the Patriots and had a game-high 20 points in a loss to Morgantown.
Abel is a freshman guard/forward on the Lady Buc basketball team. She made an immediate impact in her first two high school games for the Lady Bucs.
In her first game, Abel scored 13 points and grabbed seven rebounds in a road win against Preston. She followed that up with a double-double in a home victory over Lewis County with a game-high 16 points and 10 rebounds.
Congratulations to Walker and Abel as our first winners of the Hank Ellis All-Stars honor.
