Tennis Lady ‘Cats picked last in MEC preseason poll

BUCKHANNON, W.Va. – West Virginia Wesleyan Women’s Tennis has been selected to finish seventh in the Mountain East Conference. The Lady Bobcats tallied seven points in the preseason poll.

Charleston is picked to win the conference once again after winning it in 2022, having 36 total points and six first-place votes. West Liberty fell not too far behind, totaling 30 points and receiving one first-place vote. West Virginia State finished the vote with 27 points, taking third place. Fairmont State (20), Frostburg State (14), Davis & Elkins (13) and Wesleyan (7) rounded out the poll.

The Bobcats finished the 2021-22 campaign (11-10) overall and (1-5) in MEC competition, just missing out on the conference tournament.

Wesleyan opens the new season on March 3in Belmont, N.C. against Johnson & Wales. The home opener for WVWC will be on March 13 against Washington & Jefferson.
