One day after the Buckhannon-Upshur Chamber of Commerce held its annual awards banquet, Executive Director Tammy Reger informed Chamber members Friday that she will step down from the role she has held for 14 years. Her final day will be March 13.
In a letter sent to members, Reger said the decision came after much thought and reflection.
“Serving our business community for the past 14 years has been one of the greatest honors of my professional life,” she wrote. “It has been a privilege to work alongside so many dedicated business owners, community leaders, and volunteers who care deeply about the success and vitality of Buckhannon and Upshur County.”
Reger is one of the most tenured chamber directors in West Virginia. Under her leadership, the Chamber carried out ribbon cuttings, community events and advocacy on behalf of Buckhannon and Upshur County businesses. She also oversaw a number of events instituted by the Chamber in recent years, including the annual Bartender Battle, the State of the Corridor event, and the candidate forum held each election year.
“During my time with the Chamber, I have had the opportunity to witness firsthand the resilience, creativity and generosity that make our local businesses and organizations so special,” Reger wrote. “From ribbon cuttings and community events to advocacy and collaboration, every moment has reinforced how strong our community is when we work together.”
The Board of Directors is expected to share more information on next steps and leadership plans in the coming days. Reger said she remains committed to supporting a smooth transition.
“I will always carry deep appreciation for the experiences and connections made through the Chamber,” she wrote.
