WESTON, W.Va. — Stonewall Resort will welcome guests from across the region Friday, May 15, 2026, for the hometown premiere of “The Great Bank Robbery That Created West Virginia,” a feature film produced and filmed in Lewis County, including locations in Weston and at Stonewall Resort.
The one-night premiere event will take place at the Roanoke Event Center, with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. and the film beginning at 7 p.m. The evening will include traditional movie concessions and opportunities for attendees to meet select cast members.
Produced by Bridgeport-based JC Films and directed by Jason Campbell, “The Great Bank Robbery That Created West Virginia” brings a compelling and little-known chapter of West Virginia history to life. The story follows British heiress Caroline Andrews as she travels to Weston in search of her family’s lost fortune, only to discover a deeper sense of belonging rooted in community, faith and connection.
Starring Dean Cain, Jana Lee Hamblin, Michael Sigler and Eddie McClintock, the film highlights the landscapes, people and spirit of the Mountain State. Filmed entirely in and around Lewis County, the production showcases local landmarks, businesses and residents, making the premiere especially meaningful for the community.
“This film is truly a celebration of our region,” said Stonewall Resort general manager Andre’ D’Amour. “We are proud to have served as a filming location and are even more excited to host this premiere. It’s a unique opportunity to see our community and its story reflected on the big screen.”
The film also explores the historical roots of West Virginia’s founding, inspired by the 1861 bank robbery in Weston that helped fund the state’s early formation. Beyond its historical backdrop, the film serves as a tribute to the people of West Virginia and the enduring values of neighborliness and resilience.
Tickets for the premiere are available online and will also be sold at the door. Guests are encouraged to arrive early for this special hometown event celebrating Appalachian heritage and local storytelling.
