Step into a world of pure imagination: BCT presents ‘Willy Wonka’

Buckhannon Community Theatre invites audiences to enter a world of pure imagination with their production of “Willy Wonka,” now delighting local crowds at the Virginia Thomas Law Center for the Performing Arts on the campus of West Virginia Wesleyan College.

The show is running from August 1-4, 2024, with evening performances on Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. and matinee performances on Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m.

The production stars Bryce O’Loughlin as Willy Wonka and Thomas Loudin as Charlie Bucket, with Dannie Stiles, Julian Green, Katie Loudin, Riley Potter, Lauren Stott, Spencer Mearns, Leah Propst, Abby Benjamin, Matt Stott, Abigail Benjamin and Shane Vassar rounding out the talented cast. Caleb Waybright directs this enchanting production, with music direction by BJ Hoffman, assistant direction by Matoula Hartley, and choreography by Zoë Payne.

Hoffman, the music director and orchestra conductor, shared his enthusiasm for the production, stating, “It’s really cool to see BCT and the Buckhannon Community Band come together for a show like this. We all hope for everyone to experience the sensation of a shared collaborative experience through theater and music.”

Hoffman emphasized the uniqueness of the ‘Willy Wonka’ production, encouraging everyone to attend.

“It is a once-in-a-lifetime golden ticket out of your pure imagination,” he said.

Tickets for ‘Willy Wonka’ are priced at $15 and can be purchased online, at the Buckhannon Chamber and Visitor Center, Salon 88, or at the box office. Join BCT for a journey into a world of pure imagination and experience the magic of ‘Willy Wonka’ this weekend.
