Spring into Art show coming to Buckhannon’s Opera House this weekend

BUCKHANNON — Local art enthusiasts are gearing up for the annual “Spring into Art” show, set to take place at the Opera House at 12 E. Main Street in Buckhannon. This year, the event will run from Friday, April 26, from 5 to 9 p.m. and continue Saturday, April 27, from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Guests will have the opportunity to meet some of the artists behind the work.

Christine Keller, president of Artistry on Main, spoke enthusiastically about the upcoming event, emphasizing the importance of community participation.

“Whenever we have an art show, community participation and attendance always make it or break it,” she said. We’re doing it differently this year, having a Friday night reception instead of a Saturday and Sunday show like we’ve done in the past.”

The Friday night reception will offer attendees a chance to enjoy handheld snacks and wine while perusing the artwork.

Keller highlighted the diverse lineup of artists, saying, “We have some new people this year who haven’t been here previously, and we have returning artists who have done the show before.”

The show will feature both Artistry on Main gallery artists and external contributors, providing a unique blend of artistic styles and mediums.

“This is our annual show that we do each year,” Keller said. “It’s been going on for probably 12 years now, maybe longer. It’s always the fourth weekend in April. In the future we’d love to get other people to be doing things that same weekend and make it a weekend of art in the community.”

Keller encouraged everyone to participate, noting other art-related events happening concurrently, such as a possible show at the Infamous Art Gallery and a play at the community theater.

“We’re trying to get more and more people involved and have events that same weekend to make it a weekend of art in the community,” she explained.

The “Spring into Art” show promises to be a celebration of creativity and community spirit. Mark your calendars for this exciting event and learn more at https://www.facebook.com/BuckhannonArtistry.
