Lady Bucs claim two events; team runs fourth at Philip Barbour meet

Back from spring break, the Buckhannon-Upshur Lady Bucs placed fourth with 79 points in an 11-team meet at Philip Barbour. Gwen Rogosky won the 3200 and Rylen Carlyle took the long jump, with several personal bests as the young squad eyes Tuesday’s home meet.

Strong relay performances powered Buckhannon-Upshur to a third-place finish (99 points) in a nine-team meet at Philip Barbour, with four relay squads taking second. Greyson Wyland led the individual efforts with a 39-5.25 shot put as the Bucs notched 21 personal records.

Marple pitches Lady Bucs past Oak Hill in 7-1 road win

Kynnedy Marple fired a complete game with 11 strikeouts as Buckhannon-Upshur rolled past Oak Hill 7-1 on the road. The Lady Bucs jumped out early, got big hits from Marple and Maddie Tucker, and improved to 10-5.

Lacrosse Bucs split road outings against Morgantown and Mountain State

Buckhannon-Upshur lacrosse split a pair of road games, falling 20-6 to unbeaten Morgantown before bouncing back with a 15-6 win over Mountain State. Tobias Marple paced the Bucs in both games, and keeper Gage Scott totaled 22 saves as B-U moved to 3-4.

Tennis Lady Bucs fall to East Fairmont and Fairmont Senior

Buckhannon-Upshur’s Lady Bucs were swept 7-0 by East Fairmont and Fairmont Senior in Big 10 play, falling to 1-6 overall. Coach Jason Rock praised Madison Cutright’s move up to singles, Olivia Blonn’s varsity debut, and Claire Small’s gritty 8-5 battle.

Wesleyan tennis teams sweep Salem

West Virginia Wesleyan swept Salem University in Buckhannon, with both the women’s and men’s tennis teams earning 6-1 non-conference wins. The women took key singles and doubles points, while the men rolled with five straight-set singles victories.
