Softball Lady Bucs storm past Huskies for 10-4 win

Buckhannon-Upshur’s Lady Bucs broke open a tight game with a six-run sixth inning to beat North Marion 10-4, piling up 13 hits. Maddie Tucker had three hits, Marple earned the win, and Pastorius notched a save as B-U won its fifth straight to move to 6-1 (5-0 Big 10).

Wesleyan tennis teams split with Edinboro (Pa.)

Wesleyan’s women’s tennis team topped Edinboro 4-1 at the Wood Street Tennis Courts, highlighted by singles wins from Dominique Jansen van Vuuren, Renata Pozzobon and Yuko Sakurai.

Baseball ‘Cats get swept by Frostburg State in doubleheader

West Virginia Wesleyan was swept at Frostburg State, falling 8-0 and 16-7 as the hosts piled up 26 hits and 24 runs. The Bobcats totaled 14 hits, but Zach Dodson’s 15-K shutout in Game 1 and Frostburg’s big middle innings in Game 2 proved too much.

Softball Lady Bucs roll past Philip Barbour in three innings, 16-0

Buckhannon-Upshur’s Lady Bucs steamrolled Philip Barbour 16-0 in three innings, pounding out 15 hits with every starter collecting one. Payton Brown drove in six with two doubles, Kynnedy Marple added three RBIs, and Charity Talbott tossed a one-hit shutout.

Lacrosse Bucs fall on the road to University, 12-7

Buckhannon-Upshur trailed 5-4 at halftime but couldn’t match University’s second-half surge, falling 12-7 on the road. Zack Simmons paced the Bucs with three goals, Gage Scott made 12 saves, and B-U drops to 1-2 ahead of Saturday’s home game vs. Jefferson County.

Wyland claims the shot put as track Bucs take third in home opener

Buckhannon-Upshur opened the 2026 season at home with a strong third-place finish (92 points) in an eight-team meet, as Elkins edged Lincoln for the title. Greyson Wyland won shot put (43-11), and the Bucs added multiple runner-up relay finishes despite weeks of rough weather.

My Buckhannon’s Hank Ellis All-Stars for March 16–22 are Kynnedy Marple and Easton Rice. Marple powered a 3-1 Lady Buc week, batting .545 with 7 RBIs and going 2-0 with 16 Ks, while Rice led B-U lacrosse with 3 goals and an assist in a 15-3 win.
