Baseball Bucs split action with Lincoln, Lewis County
Buckhannon-Upshur split Big 10 action, falling 10-4 to Lincoln after eight errors led to 10 unearned runs. The Bucs bounced back with a 13-1, five-inning rout of Lewis County behind Jaxon Spratt’s 3-for-3 day with two homers and six RBIs.
B-U’s Jerin Westfall earns First Team All-State Basketball honors
Buckhannon-Upshur senior Jerin Westfall earned 2025-26 WVSWA All-State First Team honors after a standout season as Big 10 Player of the Year. He powered the Bucs to a 14-9 record, averaging 27.1 points and 12.2 rebounds while leading the team in assists and blocks.
Wesleyan tennis teams get swept by Charleston
West Virginia Wesleyan’s tennis teams were swept at Charleston on Saturday, with the men falling 5-2 and the women 6-1 in Mountain East Conference play. Wesleyan earned singles wins from Stefan Audrins and Timothe Plaza, and Renata Pozzobon.
MEC/Wesleyan announce the suspension of the remaining 2026 women’s lacrosse schedule
West Virginia Wesleyan will suspend women’s lacrosse competition for the rest of the 2026 season due to insufficient participation. The six remaining MEC games will be recorded as forfeits, with no impact on the 2026 tournament field or the league’s NCAA AQ status.
Baseball ‘Cats fall twice to West Virginia State
West Virginia Wesleyan battled but dropped both games of Friday’s doubleheader to West Virginia State, 7-3 and 6-4. The Bobcats led early in the opener and rallied to tie game two, but the Yellow Jackets answered with timely extra-base hits and held on late.
Wesleyan softball earns doubleheader sweep at Point Park (Pa.)
West Virginia Wesleyan swept Point Park in a Mountain East doubleheader, winning 8-7 and 7-1 behind timely hitting and steady pitching. Ella Fournier and Madison Austra powered the offense, while Mackenzie O’Brien tossed a complete game in the nightcap.
Lacrosse Bucs tumble on the road to George Washington, 13-4
Buckhannon-Upshur’s offense sputtered in a 13-4 road loss to George Washington, their lowest goal total of the young season. Michael Tracy scored twice, Zack Simmons and Jayden Stackpole added goals, and keeper Gage Scott made 10 saves as the Bucs fell to 2-3.
Tennis Bucs split action with Lincoln and Philip Barbour in Big 10 action
Buckhannon-Upshur tennis saw a night-and-day Big 10 week, falling 7-0 at Lincoln before bouncing back with a 7-0 home sweep of Philip Barbour. The rain also canceled Tuesday’s match vs. Robert C. Byrd, leaving the Bucs 2-3 overall and 2-1 in conference.

Buckhannon-Upshur’s Lady Bucs rebounded from a 7-0 loss at Lincoln to earn their first win, edging Philip Barbour 4-3 in Big 10 play. Angelina Winter and Kaitlin Davis clinched tight singles victories, lifting B-U to 1-4 overall (1-2 Big 10).

Buckhannon-Upshur couldn’t have asked for a better start, opening the season with Big 10 home wins over Philip Barbour (9-6) and North Marion (14-4, 5 innings). Brody McDaniels and Jaxon Spratt led the way, combining for 9 RBIs in the mercy-rule win.
Softball Lady Bucs begin spring break trip with loss to Strasburg-Franklin
Buckhannon-Upshur’s spring break trip opened with a tough 9-0 loss to Ohio power Strasburg-Franklin, as the Lady Bucs were one-hit with Kynnedy Marple’s first-inning single.
