Soccer Little Bucs, Little Lady Bucs split action in debut at Elkins

ELKINS – The Buckhannon-Upshur Middle School soccer teams split action with the Elkins Green Hornets Monday evening in their 2023 debuts.

The Little Lady Bucs won their contest by a 3-0 score while the Little Bucs dropped a 5-2 decision.

The Little Lady Bucs raced out to a 2-0 lead at the break behind goals by Isabella Nottingham and Brogan Tenney. Nottingham added another goal in the second half for the Little Lady Bucs.

Hannah Kelley had four saves in the net in the shutout win for the Little Lady Bucs.

The Little Bucs trailed 4-0 at the half but outscored Elkins by a 2-1 score in the second half getting goals from Brody Wright and Dominic Figueroa.

B-UMS keeper Landon Wright made nine saves.

Both teams will be back in action Friday against East Fairmont.

The Little Lady Bucs will go first at 6 p.m. while the Little Bucs will follow at 7:30 p.m.
