Robert John Taylor Jr.

With heavy hearts, we announce the departure of Robert John Taylor Jr., who passed away on June 16, 2025. Born in Cleveland, OH, on May 17, 1954, to the late Robert Sr. and Marylyn Bauer Taylor, Robert has been a true pillar of strength, an embodiment of unwavering love and a beacon of continuous resilience. He was a beloved husband, a caring father, grandfather, and a cherished friend whose memory will forever be etched in the hearts of those he touched. Robert was also preceded in death by one grandchild, Milani Victoria Green; two brothers: Raymond and Richard Taylor; and one infant brother, Kenneth Taylor.

Forever cherishing their memories of Robert are his wife, Vickie Lynn Runyon Taylor of Rock Cave; three children: Penny Green of Davie, FL, Melissa Ortiz and husband, José, of Rock Cave, and Jessica Scott and husband, Richard, of Lansing, WV; five grandchildren: Serenity Aragon, Aria Green, José Ortiz Jr., Peyton Scott, and Brantley Scott; several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Robert’s love for life was evident in the vibrancy with which he lived. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who found joy in being one with nature. He loved the thrill of shooting guns and plowing on his tractor. His playful side was brought to life in his love for nerf gun battles. A fan of classics, Robert enjoyed watching westerns and found solace in the lyrics of rock and Christian music. A graduate of Berea High School in 1972, he was a hardworking man who built a remarkable career spanning from Auto Collision and Paint at Boca Auto Body, FL, to Roads End Nursery in Boynton Beach, FL, L.T. Farm Equipment in Buckhannon, and over the road trucking in NC. His extensive work for FEMA disaster relief demonstrated his unwavering dedication to serving his community. A devoted member of the Salem Ridge Community Church in Gaines, WV, Robert’s faith was a guiding light in his life. He was a man of strong principles and faith, whose legacy of love and service will continue to inspire the generations to come.

Robert’s request for Cremation has been honored by Clutter Funeral and Cremation located at 21 Elnora Circle in Buckhannon. A Private Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.
