Ricky Allen Boyd

Ricky Allen Boyd, 61, of Buckhannon, passed away on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, in Banner, KY.

He was born in Buckhannon on March 28, 1964, a son of the late Raymond C. Boyd and Betty June Hoover Wingfield.

Ricky is survived by his loving siblings: Darlene Boyd and Terry Boyd and wife, Sandy, who remained constant sources of love and support throughout his life.

He was deeply involved in the Upshur County community and found great joy in participating in Upshur County Special Olympics, where he competed in basketball and bowling. One of the proudest moments of his life came in 2003, when he had the honor of carrying the torch for the Special Olympics West Virginia Summer Games at the WVU Coliseum.

Ricky attended the Upshur County Work Adjustment Center and enjoyed participating in activities at the Upshur County Senior Center. He especially looked forward to the annual event “Night to Shine”. Community Events were among his favorite moments. He eagerly anticipated seeing friends at the West Virginia Strawberry Festival and could often be found enjoying music, entertainment, and good food during Festival Fridays at Jawbone Park. He was widely known and dearly loved for his sense of humor, which brought laughter and light to those around him.

Ricky enjoyed the simple pleasures in life-hot dogs, Sam’s Pizza, listening to AC/DC, and bicycling. Above all, he loved his family and cherished his role as an uncle. He was a devoted uncle to Daniel Helmick and wife, Ashley, Joshua Boyd and wife, Amy, Anne Tenney and husband, Thomas, Rebecca Boyd, and Tyler Boyd; and a proud great uncle to Macie and Audie Helmick, and Samuel Tenney. Ricky also shared close bonds with his beloved cousin, Carl “CJ” Jarrell, Jr.

He will be remembered for his quick wit, and the happiness and laughter he brought to so many. Ricky will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Friends and family will gather for visitation from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at Clutter Funeral and Cremation located at 21 Elnora Circle in Buckhannon. Following the visitation Ricky’s wishes for cremation will take place.
