Rev. Marvin Glenville Gooden

Rev. Marvin Glenville Gooden, 85, of Buckhannon, died on Saturday, July 18, 2020, at the White Sulphur Springs Center in White Sulphur Springs.  He was born on January 6, 1935, in Queens, W.Va., a son of the late George A. and Ocie Lanham Gooden.

He was preceded in death on June 30, 2020, by his wife of sixty-one years, Donis Ruth Gooden.  In addition to his wife, he was also preceded in death by one grandson Travis and three siblings:  Retha, Janice, and Robert.

He is survived by six children:  Tim Gooden and wife Sissy, Mark Gooden, Diane Gooden and fiancé David Smith, Kim Grimes, Rod Gooden and wife Susie, and Karmen and husband Ted Loudin; grandchildren:  Tim II, April, Shannon, Emily, Josh, Mark II, Chelsea, Chasity, Skyler, Heather, Caroline, and Ryan; several great grandchildren; two sisters:  Areta Wilfong and Leota Squires; and several nieces and nephews. 

Marvin loved to be outdoors fishing or working in the garden and loved to listen to gospel music.  His favorite thing was going to Jawbone Park and listening to Cane and Able play music. 

The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m., on Thursday, July 23, 2020, at the Heavner and Cutright Funeral Chapel.  Graveside services and interment will be held at noon on Thursday, July 23, 2020, at the Lanham Cemetery at Queens with Pastor Tim Lewis officiating.
