Regional artist Lauren Winans releases new single “Meet Up Spot”

Lauren Winans’ new single “Meet Up Spot” will be released on July 30, 2024 on all streaming platforms. This is the third single off Winans’ new EP, the “Truth will Set You Free.” The release and music is a collaboration between Winans and the WVU Music Business and Industry Program.

“Meet Up Spot” the third release on “The Truth Will Set You Free” EP is one that captures the feelings of missing someone and the spot you used to meet at. “Nothings like what we had; where we never got caught; at our meet up spot” will have you singing along and reminiscing on your own young years. This is another Winans and Maynard co-write.

“This is a really fun song. During the recording process, it gave me the vibe of a cross between country Deana Carter “Strawberry Wine” and 90s rock. A bit more uptempo with a similar story idea. I thought it was a nice twist,” said WVU faculty and project producer Joshua Swiger.

Returning to her home state, Lauren Winans is currently the host of WBOY’s successful lifestyle television show 304 TODAY. Her program features lifestyles, culture and music throughout the state and region. She was recently recognized by Governor Jim Justice for her efforts as a news reporter supporting the arts and lifestyles in WV.

Lauren worked exclusively with the WVU Music Business and Industry Program to bring this EP to life. The MBI program has a working recording session band that works with artists to develop their music. The students in the program get real world experience working in a recording studio and with artists to develop their skills as musicians.

When not covering the news in the state, Lauren is a native of Buckhannon, WV, where she is a mother of two. She is an advocate for abused women and an active member of her church.
