Postseason tournament action begins for Upshur County Summer Basketball League

TENNERTON – The Upshur County Summer Basketball League began their postseason tournament on Wednesday and Thursday with both Division 1 and Division 2 playing their first round games.

Wednesday saw Division 1 play their first round contests.

No. 4 KBAM Builders downed Strategy IT in the opener by a 56-47 score with Logan Bailey scoring 15 points for KBAM Builders while Cordell Nicola paced Strategy IT with a game-high 17 points.

In an upset, No. 6 Sam’s Pizza downed No. 3 The Outpost by a 68-55 score with Ian Strader leading Sam’s Pizza with 23 points while Josiah Bailey had 17 to lead The Outpost.

The final game Wednesday had No. 2 Pre Played Media beat No. 7 High Point Construction by a 79-51 count.

Rye Gadd led Pre Played Media with 19 points while Travis Minor led High Point Construction with 17 points.

In the Division 2 opener Thursday, No. 4 Blades & Fades edged No. 5 CPImagery by a 55-54 score as Darius Dillard led Blades & Fades with 23 points while Storm Workman paced CPImagery with 24 points.

Game two had No. 3 CEC best No. 6 Dairy Queen by a 65-50 score as Dawson Lilly had a game-high 25 points for CEC while Austin Upton scored 22 points for Dairy Queen.

In Thursday’s final game No. 2 TKS Contracting beat No. 7 AMTC by a 79-54 score with Nate Frazier scoring a game-high 24 points for TKS Contracting while Keefe Kiser led AMTC with 11 points.

Division 1 was to have held their Second Round games Friday night while Division 2 will start their Second Round games on Monday.

The title game will be played Tuesday at 8 p.m.
