MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Peak Health announced July 31 that its Peak Advantage Medicare Advantage plans have earned an overall 4.5-Star Rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), making Peak Advantage the highest-rated Medicare Advantage plan in West Virginia.

The enhanced rating follows updates to CMS’s Medicare Star Ratings methodology that places greater emphasis on the experiences members have with their health plan — an area where Peak Health has consistently focused since its founding.

The CMS Star Ratings program evaluates Medicare Advantage plans on quality and performance across multiple measures, including preventive care, chronic disease management, customer service and member experience. Under the updated methodology, measures that reflect how members interact with and experience their health plan now carry greater weight in determining overall ratings.

For Peak Health, the change validates a longstanding commitment to delivering an exceptional experience for every member.

“At Peak Health, we’ve always believed that putting our members first is the foundation of quality healthcare,” Peak Health CEO Ben Gerber said. “We’re proud that CMS’s updated methodology better recognizes the importance of member experience because it reflects the way we’ve always approached serving our members. This 4.5-Star Rating is a testament to the dedication of our employees, our provider partners, and everyone who works every day to deliver outstanding care and service.”

Peak Health also recognizes the important role of its owner health systems — WVU Medicine, Marshall Health Network and Valley Health — as well as its extensive provider network across West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Ohio and Maryland. Together, they share a commitment to providing coordinated, high-quality healthcare that meets members where they are and supports healthier communities.

While member experience now plays a larger role in CMS Star Ratings, Peak Health remains committed to excelling across all measures that contribute to quality performance. Peak Health continues to invest in clinical excellence, preventive care, customer service and innovative programs designed to help members access the right care at the right time.

“This achievement reinforces that quality healthcare is about more than single points of care – it’s about supporting patients through an integrated, coordinated healthcare journey,” Peak Health President Amos Ross said. “We’re honored to see our dedication to our members recognized and remain committed to earning our members’ trust every day.”
