Patricia Ann Mills

Patricia Ann Mills passed away on February 6, 2025, at the age of 81. Born on August 27, 1943, in Buckhannon, Patricia remained a proud resident of her beloved town throughout her life.

She was a daughter of the late George Ellison and Leona Virginia Walton Ellison. On November 12, 1963 Patricia married Macky Mills. She missed him dearly after his passing on April 6, 2020. In addition to her parents and husband, Patricia was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Chendell Cole; and three siblings: Mary Ervin, Vickie Harris, and Karl Ellison. Patricia was a woman of resilience, warmth, and unyielding love for her family and community. As Maya Angelou once said, “I work really hard to just focus on the joy of the work that I get to do and the impact that it has on the world.” Patricia’s life mirrored these words as she found joy in her work, her hobbies, and most importantly, her family.

Forever cherishing their memories of Patricia are three sons: Dave Mills and wife, Michele, of Buckhannon, Jeffrie Mills and wife, Jennifer, of Weston and Randall Mills also of Buckhannon; seven grandchildren: Dustin Mills, Brooke Duke, Caitlin Smith, Courtney Woody, Casondra Thibodeaux, Kendra Mills and Angela Queen; nine great grandchildren; two siblings: Joetta Burroughs and Rick Ellison.

Patricia spent most of her professional life as a clerk in the retail industry, a position she held with grace and dedication. She was a woman of many passions. Her green thumb was legendary in the neighborhood, a testament to her patience and nurturing nature. She could often be found tending to her garden, her hands buried deep in the soil, a look of pure contentment on her face. Patricia also had a love for cooking, her home was always filled with the mouth-watering aroma of home-cooked meals, a symbol of her love for her family.

Patricia was a devoted member of the Mountain Church, her faith being a guiding light in her life. Her commitment to her community and her faith were a testament to her character and spirit. Patricia was a beloved mother, a cherished friend, and a respected member of her community. She was a woman who found joy in the simplest of things, whether that was a quiet night in watching TV or spending valuable time with her precious grandkids.
