Trunk-or-Treat: Sponsored by the Upshur County Family Resource Network, VIPS, Buckhannon Police Department, and Buckhannon Fire Department, this will be held in the Public Safety Complex Parking Lot from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Friday, October 31, 2025

Yard Waste Collection for City Residents: Yard Waste (debris) will be collected from City of Buckhannon residents. Residents must contact Buckhannon City Hall to be placed on the collection list. City residents may take their bagged yard waste (debris) to the Transfer Station during regular operating hours at no charge, and may bring up to two truckloads per year, also at no charge.

Farmers Market in Jawbone Park: The Buckhannon Upshur Farmers Market will offer fresh produce and popular local items every Friday beginning at 2:30 p.m., in Jawbone Park now through Friday, October 31st.

Trick-or-Treat: Held throughout the city of Buckhannon (in the city limits) from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.

Pop’s Furniture Halloween Costume Contest: The contest will be held in Jawbone Park area from 7:45 to 8:30 p.m.

Dates to Remember – These events have been scheduled with the city’s Consolidated Public Works Board

November 11, 2025 – Veterans Day Parade down Main Street with activities afterward in Jawbone Park. The parade lineup begins at 8:30 a.m.

November 27, 2025 – Upshur County Recreational Complex will hold a 5K, beginning in Jawbone Park at 7:30 a.m.

December 5, 2025 – Buckhannon Fire Department Christmas Parade down Main Street at 6:00 p.m. Santa Claus will visit the Buckhannon Fire Department following the parade.

December 14, 2025 – Annual Menorah Lighting in Jawbone Park at 7:00 p.m.

Reminders – To help keep our town and streets attractive, please:

Keep grass clippings and leaves out of the street as they can block stormwater drains and cause flooding. When mowing, always blow the grass away from the street.

Trash cans should be hidden from public view as much as possible during the week; place them at the curb the night before collection, and return them within 24 hours after collection.

Report Repairs or Concerns:

To report issues such as potholes or damaged signs, please call City Hall during business hours to submit a work order or use our Citizen Engagement tool: Report a Concern.
