Everett E. “Sonny” Propst

Everett E. “Sonny” Propst, age 95, of Buckhannon, WV, died Sunday, June 21, 2026, at his home.

He was born December 16, 1930, in Barbour County, WV, a son of the late Daniel Tecumseh and Florence Bly Jenkins Propst. On September 14, 1954, he married Beatrice M. Bennett, who survives.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Dorsey, Herbert, Karl, Clarence and Howard Propst; and five sisters, Margaret Knight, Nettie Adams, Abbie Adams, Joan Knight and Oneta Gladys Propst.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Everett Michael Propst and wife Laura Lynn of Philippi, WV; three daughters, Jenny Gale DeLong and husband David of Buckhannon, Greta Lynn Reasnor and husband Gary of McCurtain, OK, and Adrienne Jaye McDonald and husband Patrick of Manassas, VA; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two sisters, LeEllen DeAnselmi and husband Bud of Clarksburg, WV, and Oleta Birgman of TX; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Propst served in the U.S. Air Force. He was a tipple foreman for years. Everett was a member of the Chapel Hill UMC, the Franklin Lodge #7 A.F. & A.M., the Tygart Valley 39 Royal Arch Masons, the Buckhannon Chapter 18 Order of Eastern Star, the American Legion Post #7 in Buckhannon, the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #598, the Red Fez in Philippi, and the Tygart Valley Shriners.

Friends will be received Thursday, June 25, from 12 Noon to 1 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 1 PM at the funeral home with Pastor Paul Rebelo officiating. Burial will follow in the Bennett Cemetery at Mt. Hebron. The Upshur County Honor Guard will conduct military honors and Franklin Lodge #7 A.F. & A.M. will conduct Masonic Rites at the graveside.
