Trash Cans (Toters) Need To Be Concealed — After your scheduled pickup, customers need to retrieve their trash container from along the curb and return it to a location more pleasing to the appearance of your neighborhood. Having trash containers “out” for more than 24 hours violates a City Ordinance.

Notice of Cemetery Annual Spring Clean-up from March 24 through March 28, 2025 – The City of Buckhannon will be performing the annual spring clean-up of the cemeteries (Buckhannon Memorial Park, Old Heavner, Second Addition, Veterans and Old Baptist) beginning March 24, 2025, and continuing through March 28, 2025. ALL ITEMS MUST be removed before the scheduled Clean-Up. Any items left will be disposed of during the cemetery clean-up. If you have any questions, please call 304-472-1651 or 304-472-5755 between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

City Hall to Close Early on Monday, March 24, 2025 – City Hall will close at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, March 24, 2025, for a City Employee Appreciation Afternoon and Luncheon hosted by Mayor Skinner and the Members of the City Council. The following day, it will open again at its regular time.

Free Residential Paper Shredding Event, April 26, 2025 – The Upshur County Solid Waste Authority is sponsoring a Free Paper Shredding Event (Residential Only) on Saturday, April 26, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at 395 Mud Lick Rd. Buckhannon (across from the Transfer Station). Contact Director Belinda Lewis at (814) 327-5218 for more information.

Even if you do not wish to pay your bill using this method, you may still want to set up an account, which will allow you to monitor your consumption. To sign up for this service, you will need to complete the online registration, which includes knowing your Utility Board Account Number (printed on your bill) and the last amount you paid. Once your account has been established, you must log in with the proper email and password.

Reporting a Necessary Repair or Registering a Concern with the City – To report a necessary repair, such as potholes, damaged street signs, an issue in a city park, etc., or any other matter that a city department should attend to, call City Hall during regular business hours and ask to submit a work order request, or report your concerns through our Citizens Engagement tool: https://buckhannonwv.portal.iworq.net/BUCKHANNON/new-request/700/3444. This will speed up the reaction time to a matter that needs immediate attention.
