Independence Day holiday — All city offices, including the transfer station, will be closed; there will be no waste collection on this day.

July 4th fireworks — The City of Buckhannon is partnering with Create Buckhannon for an evening of activities. The celebration will feature musical acts, including Stonestreet, vendors, a farmers market, the Create Buckhannon Chicken Dinner BBQ and special activities for children in Jawbone Park. The event will end with a fireworks display sponsored by the City at dark.

Other Information

Updates regarding yard waste collection for city residents — Yard waste will be collected from city of Buckhannon residents on the following dates: July 11, July 25, August 8 and August 22, 2025. Beginning Sept. 1, it will be collected every Friday through Nov. 30. Residents must contact Buckhannon City Hall to be placed on the collection list. City residents may take their bagged yard waste to the transfer station during normal operating hours free of charge and may bring two truckloads per year.

Pay Utility Bills Online or by Phone

To make an online payment for your utility bill, visit https://www.municipalonlinepayments.com/buckhannonwv. To pay by phone, call 1-866-933-4026. Even if you do not wish to pay using this method, you may set up an account to monitor your consumption. To register, you will need your Utility Board account number (printed on your bill) and the last amount you paid. Once your account is established, log in with your email and password.

Reporting a Necessary Repair or Registering a Concern with the City

To report a necessary repair, such as potholes, damaged street signs or an issue in a city park, call City Hall during regular business hours and request a work order. You may also report your concerns through our Citizens Engagement tool: https://buckhannonwv.portal.iworq.net/BUCKHANNON/new-request/700/3444. This will speed up the response time.
