  • Water Department upgrades Central Avenue area — The City of Buckhannon Water Department is continuing its water line upgrade along Central Avenue, installing a new 6-inch line and fire hydrant to replace the aging 4-inch main. Read more about the summer project.
  • Notice of meeting cancellation, City of Buckhannon Planning Commission — The City of Buckhannon Planning Commission meeting scheduled for July 20, 2026, has been canceled due to a lack of clear agenda items. The next regular meeting will be held in the City Council Chambers at City Hall, 70 E. Main St., Buckhannon, WV, Wednesday, October 14, 2026, at 7 p.m. If necessary, a special meeting will be announced.
  • City Council meeting — The August 6, 2026, meeting has been canceled due to a conflict with the WVML Conference.

  • Buckhannon Proud: Simple ways we keep our community looking its best — The city is reminding residents to help keep the community clean, safe and welcoming for neighbors and visitors. The city asks all residents to take a few simple steps to maintain their properties and follow established ordinances. View the complete list.
  • City of Buckhannon reminder of yard waste and leaf collection procedures — Review the city’s ongoing procedures for yard waste and loose leaf collection to ensure materials are properly prepared and placed for pickup on the correct dates, noting special dates due to large events and holidays.
  • City’s street sweeping schedule — The city has established a monthly street sweeping schedule. To help crews keep your neighborhood clean, move vehicles off the street before your scheduled day.
  • Trash can placement — Trash cans must be hidden from public view as much as possible during the week. Place them at the curb the night before collection and return them within 24 hours after collection.
  • Utility bill payments — Pay utility bills online through Municipal Online Payments or by phone at 1-866-933-4026. Setting up an account allows you to monitor your consumption.
  • Report repairs or concerns — To report issues such as potholes or damaged signs, call City Hall during business hours to submit a work order or use the city’s Citizen Engagement tool, Report a Concern.
