Nona Street fire contained to house’s third floor; no one was injured in Dec. 7 blaze

BUCKHANNON – No one was injured during a house fire near the high rise on Nona Street Tuesday evening.

Buckhannon Fire Department Captain Joey Baxa said the fire department was called to 11 Nona Street at 8:39 p.m. When firefighters arrived, they found a three-story home on fire, but the official cause has not been determined.

Damage was limited to the third floor of the dwelling.

Baxa said at this point, he doesn’t believe the fire will be investigated by the Office of the West Virginia State Fire Marshal.

“They were looking for it this morning,” Baxa said. “I don’t even think the State Fire Marshal’s office will be called in. It originated on the third floor. It appeared to be an attic space, the fire originated there, and it was contained just to that level of the house.”
