No injuries reported in Route 33 wreck

BUCKHANNON – No one was injured after a wreck Thursday on Route 33, near the Huddle House.

According to the police report filed by Lt. Doug Loudin with the Buckhannon Police Department, the wreck occurred at 12:21 p.m. on April 11. Daniel Hughes, 39, from Weston was travelling east on Route 33 driving a black 2014 Dodge Ram CW pickup when Joseph Walker, 70, also of Weston, attempted to cross the intersection at WBUC Road in a gray 2006 Chevrolet Silverado pickup.

Walker failed to yield to the right of way to Hughes, who swerved to avoid hitting Walker, but the trailer caught the front of Walker’s vehicle, forcing Hughes into the turn lane of the westbound lane of Route 33 before coming to a stop.

No injuries were reported. The Buckhannon Police Department, the Buckhannon Fire Department and Upshur County EMS responded.
