Nine Lady Bucs tabbed for WVSLA All-State lacrosse honors

TENNERTON – The Buckhannon-Upshur Lady Bucs certainly made their presence known on the 2023 WVSLA All-State Team that was recently announced.

Buckhannon-Upshur had a total of nine players land on the All-State squad as one player earned First Team honors, four were tabbed for the Second Team and four players were named to the Honorable Mention Team.

Earning the First Team honor was junior Kaylee Black for defense.

Picking up the Second Team honors were junior Heather Hayes and sophomore Kendall Hefner for attack, junior Kendall Defibaugh for midfield and Mary Ellen Adams for defense.

Named to the Honorable Mention Team were freshman Maya Garcia and freshman Mallory Moss for midfield, junior Genevieve Gregory for defense and junior Haylea Crihfield for goalie.

Morgantown’s Quintina Mengyan and University’s Kevin Armstrong were named Head Coaches of the Year.

The Lady Bucs of head coach Jamie Greene advanced to the state semifinals and ended the year with a 10-5 record.
