Mountain CAP Family Support Center expands offerings with game day

WVU Medicine St. Joseph’s Hospital general surgeon Dr. Susan Long has been named WVSOM’s 2026 Outstanding Preceptor Award recipient for the Central East Region.

Food truck vendors may soon be able to rent space in the Madison Street parking lot in Buckhannon. Public Works Director Ethan Crosten said the site’s existing utility hookups could make it an easy way to bring vendors into the city.

Buckhannon’s revived Youth Police Academy is full, with 24 kids ages 11–16 signed up for the hands-on July 13–17 program featuring K9 demos and mock crime scenes. The BPD is also calling for volunteers to join VIPS to assist the department in various ways.

A Bridgeport, West Virginia, physician assistant was sentenced to 12 months in federal prison for falsifying VA medical records to steal disability benefits and wipe out $242,528 in federal student loans. Christina Nolte was also ordered to pay $355,179.13 in restitution.
