Military Signing Week recognizes students committing to service; Signing event at LCHS slated for April 28

CHARLESTON, W.VA. – As part of the Month of the Military Child, the West Virginia Department of Education (WVDE) and the Common Ground Partnership are proud to present the inaugural West Virginia Military Signing Week, April 25 – 29, 2022. Participating schools will host ceremonies and activities honoring students committing to serve in the U.S. Armed Forces following their graduation.

Enlistment, along with education and employment, is one of the three E’s identified by the WVDE for post-secondary preparedness. College and career-readiness support through West Virginia’s public schools prepares students for the next steps after high school whether that be going onto college, straight into the workforce through a skilled pathway or enlisting to serve in the military

Students who commit to service in the military will use the skills and knowledge acquired throughout their educational experiences as they advance into a new and exciting phase of their lives.

Their experience in public schools prepares them to move forward in their careers and serve their communities and the nation. The WVDE is proud to support this special recognition of those taking this important next step.”

The Common Ground Partnership consists of military, government and community-based organizations focused on the success of all students and promoting assistance for military-connected families in public schools.
