Manchin, Capito announce $1.1 million for commercial driver’s license program, vehicle safety in West Virginia

Charleston, WV – U.S. Senators Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), members of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced $1,154,023 from the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) for the West Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) commercial driver’s license program and vehicle safety.

“Commercial drivers support our economy and ensure West Virginians get the groceries and supplies they need, which is especially important during the COVID-19 pandemic. This funding will support the West Virginia DMV commercial driver’s license program and will help keep our roads safe. As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee I will continue to support funding that helps our economy and keeps West Virginians safe on our roads,” said Senator Manchin.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has placed a major strain on the workers in our DMV’s across the state. We rely on the DMV for so many essential services, making this support all the more important. Expanding our ability to provide services remotely will allow for a more efficient process, while also keeping our residents and workers safe. Making resources readily available and resourceful for West Virginians is a key aspect in moving our DMV forward,” said Senator Capito.
