Lahman has a double-double as Lady Bucs easily dispatch of Fairmont Senior in 59-32 win

FAIRMONT – Casadie Lahman had a double-double with a game-high 15 points and a game-high 10 rebounds to lead the Buckhannon-Upshur Lady Bucs to a convincing 59-32 victory over the homestanding Fairmont Senior Polar Bears Tuesday night in Big 10 Conference action.

Lahman also added a team-high six assists and five steals in the victory which ended a four-game slide for the Lady Bucs.

B-U recorded 19 steals off 32 Fairmont Senior turnovers which allowed them to double up the Polar Bears in field goal attempts by a 65-33 margin.

The Lady Bucs trailed just once, by a 3-2 count, and went on an 8-0 run after that for a 10-3 lead with 1:45 left in the opening quarter.

Brooklyn Smith knocked down a trey to end the quarter putting the Lady Bucs up by a 13-7 score.

Buckhannon-Upshur dominated the second quarter limiting the Polar Bears to just one field goal and four points.

They opened the quarter on a 9-0 run capped off by two Alyssa Abel free throws for a 22-7 advantage with 4:12 remaining in the quarter.

Lahman wrapped up the quarter with a putback and a three-pointer to treat the Lady Bucs to a 30-11 halftime advantage.

Inside baskets by Harley Dean and Kyndal Davis started the third quarter giving the Bucs a 34-11 lead.

Up 39-18, the Lady Bucs closed the canto with a 13-0 run that ended on a Lahman putback. That put Buckhannon-Upshur up by a 52-18 score going into the final eight minutes.

After a lay-up by Makenzie Egress that put B-U up b a 56-20 score, Fairmont Senior went on an 12-0 run to close it to 56-32 before Smith closed out the game with a three-pointer.

Cheyanne Bishoff led Fairmont Senior with 11 points.

Fairmont Senior dropped to 1-18 on the year and 1-12 in the Big 10 Conference.

Dean had 13 points and Smith 11 for the Lady Bucs, who improved to 4-15 overall and 3-9 in the Big 10.

They were slated to close out their regular season Wednesday hosting Morgantown and will play University next Wednesday on the road in their sectional opener.
