Lacrosse Lady Bucs win playoff opener over St. Albans

TENNERTON – After dominating St. Albans twice in the regular season winning 15-2 and 17-2, the Buckhannon-Upshur Lady Bucs had to think their third match in their playoff opener wouldn’t be that difficult.

The Lady Bucs defeated St. Albans for the third time but had to sweat out a 7-6 verdict Tuesday evening.

Kendall Defibaugh led the B-U offense with two goals while Mallory Moss, Rylee Carr, Kendall Hefner, Maya Garcia and Elaney Herron each had one goal.

Moss was credited with one assist.

Moss also led the team in ground balls with seven while Kaylee Black had six.

The Lady Bucs owned a 19-11 margin in shots on goal.

B-U keeper Haylea Crihfield made five saves while Alyssa Dorsey stopped12 shots.

The win improved the Lady Bucs to 10-4 on the year as they continue their postseason run Monday as they visit University for a 7 p.m. outing.
